Sarasota, FL — March 9, 2026 — Lumenier, a U.S.-based manufacturer of NDAA-compliant unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and drone components, participated in the U.S. Army’s inaugural Best Drone Warfighter Competition, hosted by the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) in Huntsville, Alabama.

The multi-day event brought together soldiers, engineers, and industry innovators to evaluate emerging small-UAS technologies and operational concepts in a series of competitive mission scenarios designed to test speed, precision, teamwork, and tactical innovation.

During the competition, Lumenier demonstrated several of its attritable FPV platforms, including the AttriX5, AttriX7, and AttriX10, alongside the LithiX10 endurance platform. These systems are designed to support modern battlefield requirements including reconnaissance, target acquisition, and scalable attritable drone operations.

A key capability highlighted during the event was LokSight, Lumenier’s advanced target-locking and guidance technology, designed to enhance operator precision and improve situational awareness in dynamic operational environments.

In a notable demonstration of operator-driven innovation, soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) introduced LokSight integration on their A.B.E. 1.01 drone, showcasing how the technology can enhance targeting capability on tactical small-UAS platforms deployed by frontline units.

“The Best Drone Warfighter Competition represents exactly the type of collaboration needed between industry and the warfighter,” said Chad Daring, Vice President of Business Development at Lumenier. “The feedback and innovation coming directly from soldiers is shaping how small UAS will be employed in future conflicts. Seeing operators integrate technologies like LokSight onto operational platforms demonstrates how quickly capability can evolve when industry and the Army work together.”

The competition featured multiple mission sets, including high-speed FPV drone racing, hunter-killer tactical scenarios, and innovation challenges where soldiers presented new drone concepts and technologies.

Lumenier congratulates the winners of the inaugural competition:

  • Best Drone Operator: Sgt. Javon Purchner — 1st Cavalry Division
  • Best Tactical Squad: Staff Sgt. Angel Caliz and Spc. Jonah Burks — 2nd Cavalry Regiment
  • Best Innovation: 1st Lt. Ryan Giallonardo, CW3 Robert Reed, CW2 Nathan Shea, and Sgt. 1st Class Brent Wehr — 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard

The event underscores the U.S. Army’s increasing focus on small unmanned systems as a critical capability on the modern battlefield, particularly in light of lessons learned from recent conflicts where attritable drone systems have proven decisive.

Lumenier continues to support U.S. defense and government customers with American-manufactured drone platforms, NDAA-compliant components, and scalable production capacity designed to support high-volume operational requirement.
