About this Product

The Holybro DroneCAN RM3100 Professional Grade Compass is an advanced compass/magnetometer designed for precise navigation and heading accuracy in unmanned vehicles. Its superior technology and design make it ideal for minimizing magnetic disturbances and enhancing navigational accuracy.

Features

  • Delivers impeccable signal-to-noise ratios and no drift, ensuring reliable and consistent readings.
  • Provides professional-grade heading accuracy and orientation calculations, crucial for precise waypoint navigation.
  • Its design minimizes magnetic disturbance from motor coils and metal parts, a common challenge in unmanned vehicles.
  • Features a 3-axis magnetometer based on PNI's proprietary magneto-inductive technology for high-performance resolution and repeatability.
  • Offers an exceptionally high level of resolution (10 nT) and ultra-low magnetic hysteresis, suitable for applications demanding high heading accuracy.
  • Utilizes the DroneCAN output protocol for robust and reliable connectivity over large distances, simplifying the wiring process.
  • Does not occupy any serial ports on the flight controller, thanks to its efficient connectivity design.

Working great in Ardurover, easy setup

Roland H.Verified buyer

Plugged right in to Cube Orange with no modifications needed. Mission Planner detected (after 2 reboots) and enabled. Working much better than internal compass!

An excellent professional grade magnetometer

TCIII

I have been building an autonomous lawnmower prototype using a Holybro Pixhawk 6x mini and a Sparkfun ZED-F9P RTK GPS module for GPS2 and had recently purchased a Holybro M10 GPS/Compass module for GPS1. The GPS portion of the M10 module is excellent, but I was less than satisfied with the noise immunity of the Compass portion which I am using for the Yaw heading. So I investigated the Holybro RM3100 Profession Grade Magnetometer, found its performance specs to fill my noise immunity requirements, and purchased one from GetFPV. I mounted the RM3100 module just behind the M10 module on the top of the lawnmower Control Module which put it directly over the lateral axis of the lawnmower differential steering motors. After calibration, I installed the Control Module on the lawnmower chassis, which even though it is a prototype is still much too big to go through a six axis compass calibration procedure, and found that it did not display the out of spec xy magfield message that the M10 module Compass had displayed. Even running the differential drive motors at full speed along with the cutting head DC motor did not cause an out of spec xy magfield message or drift in the magnetometer heading. Now all I need to do is see how the RM3100 maintains the Yaw heading while the lawnmower is in operation.
